Meet the Audiologists
Dr. Katie Nail
“My name is Katie Nail and I am the Director of Administration in Audiology at Lakeland Hearing Care and Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center. I am a Clinical Audiologist and received my Doctorate in Audiology from the University of South Florida in 2016. I joined the Center’s team in 2015 while in my residency and was blessed to stay on the team after graduation. I am privileged to work at a clinic that takes the time to build relationships with patients while following best practices for hearing healthcare.
I have lived in Florida for most of my life. I was born here, lived here for eight years, and then moved to Texas where I lived in Sugarland for two years, a suburb outside of Houston, Texas. My family was then relocated to Austin, Texas where I lived until I graduated high school. I enjoyed my time in the Lone Star State! I am happy to be back in Florida with extended family and enjoy raising my little family here.
My husband and I have a son and daughter and we love spending our weekends with them. Family time is very important to us. During the week, my focus is helping other families with their loved ones hear so they can enjoy their times together.
It is so important to hear your loved ones and build memories together. Let me help you with you or your family member’s journey to better hearing and a better quality of life. It is my sincere pleasure to do so!”

I am a Clinical Audiologist and earned my Doctorate of Audiology and Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Science & Disorders from the University of Florida. My clinical externship was completed at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL and I joined the staff at Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center in June of 2014.
My special interests include adult diagnostics and hearing aid fittings. I am a native of Tampa, FL, but moved to Lakeland as my husband is a native Lakelander. We have two children and together we enjoy attending Florida Gator football games, going to the beach, and Walt Disney World.”

Dr. Shaila Perez
“My name is Shaila Perez and I am a graduate from Wayne State University (in Michigan), where I earned my Doctorate of Audiology degree in May of 2015. Upon completing my residency at Michigan Ear Institute, I relocated to Lakeland, FL and joined The Barranco Clinic full-time, working in the medical field of audiology. A few years later, I joined Central Florida Speech and Hearing as a clinical audiologist in February of 2018. I was very happy to join the Center as the only Spanish speaking Audiologist as I am a native from Yauco, Puerto Rico.
I am well versed in all fields of Audiology; however, my passion lies predominantly in clinical diagnostics, hearing aids, and implantable devices including osseointegration devices (BAHA) and cochlear implants of all age groups. I am part of the local craniofacial team which meets at our Center.
I am very family oriented and enjoy going to the beach and spending time with family. I love all things related to my daughters!”

Dr. Katie Farid
My name is Katie Farid, and I am a Clinical Audiologist at Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center. I earned my Doctorate of Audiology and Bachelors of Science in Communication Disorders from Auburn University. I joined the Center’s team in 2021 for my clinical externship, and I am happy to continue my career here. I enjoy all areas of audiology, but I am particularly interested in electrophysiological testing and pediatrics. I am a native of Alabama and recently relocated to Lakeland with my husband. I enjoy cooking, reading mystery novels, and spending time with my family.
Hearing Aid Specialist
My name is Tomi Thomas and I am a Hearing Aid Specialist at Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center. I have been practicing since 2008. I am from Dade City, Florida and worked in a clinic in that area for the past 17 years. I joined the staff here at Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center in November 2021.
I enjoy troubleshooting and problem solving with my patients to ensure that all of their hearing needs are being met. I enjoy the challenge of my profession to help people hear their friends and family better. It is my greatest passion knowing that I can contribute to someone understanding their grandchildren better, to enjoy their conversations with their spouse, to interact with a group at a restaurant or church, or to hear the television clearly.
I am excited to begin this new chapter at this facility. Please come by the center to see me. I can clean, adjust, and repair your hearing aids. I can also re-evaluate your hearing during your visit. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help you on your hearing journey! See you soon!
